bio

I am passionate about enabling mothers to have safe and fulfilling birth experiences and take particular joy in helping new parents understand and meet their babies' needs, both physical and emotional.

I'm a Certified Cooperative Childbirth Educator, through the Childbirth Education Association of Metropolitan New York (CEA/MNY), and a Certified Labor Support Doula and Labor Doula Trainer, through Doulas of North America. I hold a B.A. in Biology from Amherst College, where I graduated magna cum laude and a Master's in Nutritional Science from The University of Massachusetts where I completed my thesis on herbs used for childbirth with a 4.0 GPA. Additionally I completed a year of post graduate coursework in Anatomy and Physiology, and certified in adult and infant CPR and neonatal resuscitation.

Throughout the year I attend conferences and workshops to sharpen my knowledge and stay current for the women and families I serve. I combine my strong academic background in the sciences with a deep knowledge of body dynamics, and a willingness to provide strong physical support through labor and birth.

Having taught comprehensive childbirth classes and
newborn care at Realbirth* for 6 years, I currently offer group classes in childbirth, newborn care, and breast feeding at Pregnancy & Parenting and The Prenatal Yoga Center and private classes on request.

I was featured in the leading trade publication "Midwifery Today",
and am a member of The Metropolitan Doula Group. I also mentor aspiring childbirth educators through CEA/MNY.

A mother myself, I'm passionate about childbirth, and just love babies!
